The Sign Test (Worksheet)The Sign test can be used in place of a paired t-test when your data are either ordinal or the assumption of normality is in doubt. Note however that the Wilcoxon Signed Rank test is often preferred in this case! This teach yourself worksheet provides an introduction to the Sign test including how to do this using SPSS.
